Blindsight by Maurice Gee
Maurice Gee wrote this wonderful twisted tale called Blindsight. It was published in 2005, but has still been able to capture hearts. This book could be pinned as many genres, because it includes so much; drama, action, romance and much more.
It starts of telling us about the narrator watching an old man walking with agony down a street in Wellington, New Zealand. The narrator turns out to be this man’s sister and she leads us into the past with her words. Her name is Alice Ferry and she tells us of her life which is so lonely and slowly heartbreaking. She tells readers of her parents and their relationship and all of its flaws that bring out Gordon’s better qualities of a mediator. Finally, she describes her younger brother, Gordon Ferry, as a good natured, innocent man who is hit by a mid-life crisis and turns for the worst. It is hard to think as you read on, how this young man with such a big future, turn into something that horrid, he was turned into something people would dread to even imagine themselves as.
Alice Ferry is one of the main characters and at first you would assume that she is someone who is stubborn and cold, and as you go on she is still stubborn but when her long lost great nephew arrives on her doorstep, the sense of care and love is triggered once again. She changes by finally opening up to her past and has done this by telling her great nephew everything about Gordon.
Maurice uses many ways of imagery to enhance the words in scripted in this wonderful book. He uses similes, metaphors and many adjectives to describe and show all of the parts where characters are thinking, acting and saying. An example of this is ‘…Richie cycled though the misty rain, wearing the black slicer that fitted him like a carapace…’. I have found out while reading this novel that Maurice has used many little things that he has used numerous times before in his previous books. He has mentioned the creek and all of its dangers, the familiar fictional name (Loomis) given to Henderson and the fat boy who is constantly teased. This surely is a result of his childhood in Henderson by Henderson Creek.
I would recommend this book to someone who would watch soap operas every evening with a glass of red wine in their hand. That is utterly specific, but this book is something that would fit in nicely with someone with that sort of routine because this book does resemble something that could be cried or gasped at. It is written for an older audience and though I am a teenager, I found this book absolutely splendid. Its storyline was so unexpected and the past just breaks your heart. I am giving this book a 5 star rating and I truly think that this novel is a work of art and one of Gee’s finest pieces.
To sum the whole book with just a few words would be hard but those words are 'Totes Amaze'.

This is a song called 'Problem'by Ariana Grande. It really relates with my latest blog post, so if you haven't read it yet then it would be great if you did.i really love this song well I actually love all of her songs. i don't care what she has done in the past; I still love her music and that will always stay the same.
This is such an amazing song which talks about insecurity. It may be a shock but I have never actually been that big of a Beyonce fan until I heard this song and I know you fans out there must think I'm crazy but yeah thats the truth. I Hope you enjoy this song as much as I do and hopefully it will be as stuck in your head as it is in mine, lol. Thanks!
